India Sent 2.8 Million Hydroxychloroquine Tablets To 87 Countries

India has shown its support to other countries in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by providing 2.8 million hydroxychloroquine tablets.

India has played a critical role in supplying countries with hydroxychloroquine which proves to be effective in treating COVID-19.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India has shown its support to other countries in the fight against the pandemic by providing 2.8 million hydroxychloroquine tablets and 1.9 million paracetamol tablets. A total of 87 countries has received assistance from India.
These supplies were sent as humanitarian aid and on a commercial basis as well.
The news agency reported that the United States had asked for 48 lakh of hydroxychloroquine tablets from India. As a result, the South Asian country has exported 35.82 lakh tablets.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh received 20 lakh hydroxychloroquine tablets, Nepal received 10 lakh, Sri Lanka received 10 lakh, Afghanistan received 5 lakh, Bhutan received 2 lakh, and the Maldives received 2 lakh.
Besides the USA, twelve other countries received the supply for hydroxychloroquine from India including Germany, Spain, Brazil, Bahrain, Nepal, Israel, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.
India is the world’s major manufacturer of the anti-malaria drug. The government has assured that the stock of the anti-malaria tablets is enough to meet the current requirement.
The anti-malaria drug has proved to be effective in treating people contracted with COVID-19. At a Kerala hospital, doctors are treating COVID-19 patients who are going through the first stage of developing pneumonia using a four-drug cocktail consisting of azithromycin, hydroxychloroquine, and two types of HIV anti-virus.
