Husband Learns Why Deceased Wife’s Smartwatch Still Works

One day, Wang noticed that his deceased wife’s smartphone that he kept with him was updating the steps counted by the smartwatch.

In August 2019, a man named Wang buried his wife together with her favorite smartwatch used for counting steps in a town in Hangzhou City, China. Wang decided to keep his wife’s smartphone which has a software connected with the watch as a souvenir.

He did not expect that this action has led to a surprising series of events. Wang said that he noticed that his wife’s smartphone was updating the steps counted by the smartwatch. After he had calmed down, Wang went to his wife’s grave and found out that its surroundings had been dug up and all of his wife’s possessions had been stolen.

Wang went to his wife’s grave and found out that its surroundings had been dug up and all of his wife’s possessions had been stolen.

Wang immediately reported to the police. Police officer Li was the one to be in charge of the case. From the start, everyone knew that there was a grave robber behind this but they had difficulty in tracking the suspect.

After three months of hard work, just recently, the investigating has been able to track down the suspect’s whereabouts using the phone app. The suspected hid in the mountainous area of Hangzhou.

Right when they met, police officer Li and the suspect realized each other. The reason was that the grave robber already had a criminal record and had just been released from prison three months ago.

The suspect said that right after his release, he had dug 21 tombs across the region. He always chose the graves that had just been buried because according to custom, the dead person’s relative would not visit the newly built tomb. If it had not been for the smartwatch of Wang’s wife, the suspect would probably continue his criminal act for a while longer.
