This Drone Will Use Special Seeds To Plant 1 Billion Trees In 8 Years

To save the trees and our planet, a team of science and engineering graduates from Canada plans to use drones to plant 1 billion trees by 2028.

The trees are in great danger, whether it is deforestation or forest fire. However, to save the trees and our planet, a team of science and engineering graduates from Canada plans to use drones to plant 1 billion trees by 2028.

“Flash Forest” is the name of this project. The technique that the team uses is rather unique. Heavy-life drones are going to be deployed. The team equips the drones with a pneumatic firing device that will fire out the pods into the soil.

There are three components inside these pods: local seeds, nutrients, and a secret sauce that is loved by plants.

The seeds are already sprouted along combined with a strong rooting system, allowing for successful growth.

The special thing about these pods is that they need less water than conventional planting methods.

After the pods are planted into the soil, the drones will spray the surface with nitrogen as well as other nutrients. Mapping drones are also used to keep track of the trees’ growth and provide necessary data so that the team can take action if needed.

According to Flash Forest, the project is started to balance out carbon emissions enough to make a measurable and significant impact on the current situation of climate change. The team works closely with forestry experts and botanists, use mapping UAV technology for the selection of ideal planting sites as well as providing follow up data about ecosystem health.

In terms of planting trees, compared to a single worker, Flash Forest’s technology can work 10 times faster. The costs are also 80% cheaper than conventional tree planting methods.

Flash Forest is trying to raise around Rs 27 lakhs via Kickstarter. The team also looks for additional funding for the equipment purchases to boost its production and to make more seed pods.

Flying a drone is used to be prohibited in India but the rules have been changed starting from December 2018. You can now start investing in drone cameras and take breathtaking shots and shooting awesome videos. Here’s drone camera price in India.
