Men, Beware, COVID-19 Was Found In Semen, So No Oral!

Traces of the virus were found in semen samples of some male patients who previously tested positive for COVID-19

At this point, scientists around the world are still not 100% sure how the Coronavirus spreads from one person to another.

Research shows the virus can live for up to three days on some certain surfaces and it can be in the aerosolized droplets for half an hour. But that is not all, scientists also find the Coronavirus lurking in feces, saliva, and urine.

Recently, experts in China even found it in semen. However, at this point, scientists are not sure if COVID-19 can be s.e.x.u.a.l.l.y transmitted. Traces of the virus were found in semen samples of 6 on 38 male patients who previously tested positive for the Coronavirus. Four of them were at severe stage of the disease. The other two are recovering.

When the outbreak first starts, scientists said the Coronavirus could be transmitted though kissing, but they did not believe it can infect another person via s.e.x.u.a.l intercourse.

According to Dr. Stanley Perlman, professor of pediatrics, microbiology, and immunology at the University of Iowa, even if semen tested positive for COVID-19, it does not necessarily mean the Coronavirus is present.

So now, there is still no evidence showing that Coronavirus can transmit from person to person by s.e.x.u.a.l intimacy. If a person catches the virus after having s.e.x with an infected patient, it is highly likely that he or she has come in contact with infectious respiratory droplets.

However, even if semen is not infectious, scientists still want to dig deeper and carry out research. The reason here is they want to find out if oral s.e.x is safe.

In many countries, several fertility clinics have temporarily stopped accepting sperm donors worrying that women who are trying to get pregnant will get the virus.
