Cannabis Sale Skyrockets After Study Shows It Can Prevent COVID-19 Infection

There has not been any other types of drug that can achieve this 70% to 80% reduction in infection like what cannabis does

A team of scientists recently announced a mind-blowing study related to COVID-19. According to them, strong strains of cannabis may have an effect on preventing and treating the illness caused by the Coronavirus.

The researchers come from the University of Lethbridge and they said research done back in April revealed that 13 cannabis plants contain CBD, a substance affecting the virus’s pathway into human bodies.

Olga Kovalchuk, a team member said they were stunned at first but later, they were filled with excitement.

Their study shows an extract of hemp with CBD might bock the particular protein that clears the way for the Coronavirus to infiltrate the host cells.

Igor, Kovalchuk’s husband, said cannabis could lower the entry points of the virus that causes COVID-19 by 70%, so doctors will have more chances to fight it.

He also expressed his hope in this study as there has not been any other type of drug that can achieve this 70% to 80% reduction in infection.

While more research is called for to prove the effectiveness of cannabis, if this method's effect is confirmed, we may have a safe addition to our arsenal against COVID-19.

The scientists suggest we may develop mouthwash and throat gargle products with cannabis to lower the chance of entry of the virus through human noses and mouths.

Olga warned people not to hoard weed just because their study suggests it may work. Their research points to 800 varieties that work in this way and not all of them you can buy.

This study was carried out in collaboration with Pathway Rx, a company specialized in cannabis research therapy, as well as Swysh Inc, a research company.

The scientists are seeking additional funding to continue their work in addressing COVID-19.

After this study was made public, the sale of weed has skyrocketed as people hope smoking them will shield them from infection.
