Don't like people appear in your photos? With Bye Bye Camera, you can now remove all human factor with just some gestures.

Not everyone likes people keep randomly show up in their photos no matter what they are shooting. But with this application, that won’t be a problem anymore. Bye Bye Camera simply removes people from your photos.

The application is actually an art project by Do Something Good, including artist damjanski who is a co-founder and a member. The collective has worked on several projects to take on the digital era like a CAPTCHA excluding humans or a setup dialogue between 2 conversational agents of Google.

People might ask why would we have to do that? Why should we remove people from photos? Aren’t humans an important part of the planet? It doesn’t matter whether you have those questions on your mind or not, because this app does not ask you for it.

Byebyecamera1 — A person is roughly removed from any of your pictures and will be refilled by the background.

The application works basically with some AI tools that are already available. You Only Look Once – a considerably effective object classifier is used in the app, which can quickly signify a person’s outline. After that, a “context-aware fill” – as called by Adobe – will be performed by a separate tool. Finally, a person is roughly removed from any of your pictures and will be refilled by the background.

Although there are mixed results regarding the application, it’s still an interesting project. And admit it or not, the app speaks out about humanity’s nature and emphasizes what AI technology should and can be used for.
