Apple Explains Why iPhone 11 Keeps Tracking Your Location Data

Recently, a security researcher named Brian Krebs has divulged a serious problem that happened on the iPhone 11 Pros (and maybe on iPhone 11 model as well). According to Krebs, those devices have long been constantly checking for users’ location data, even when they have turned off the Location Services feature on the phone. This draws a lot of attention from people who strongly put their belief in Apple. In fact, they started raising the question of whether the company is tracking their every footprint.

However, in a statement to TechCrunch, the tech giant dropped us a line, claiming that those newer iPhones need to check location data to take advantage of ultra-wideband chips (UWB) legally. According to Apple’s spokesperson, the company is responsible for turning of UWB in certain locations to meet international regulatory requirements. He further said it’s necessary to perform such checks to make sure its technology available as much as possible.

Talking about the UWB-related checks, Apple has underlined how it entirely handled all the data on users’ devices – so it actually hasn’t collected any location data. Notwithstanding, the tech giant promises to launch a useful toggle for UWB in upcoming iOS updates in the future.

In fact, Apple initially didn’t admit its behavior. The tech giant first declined to comment when being asked about the location findings.
